Sunshine bathed the Boyndie Drome Circuit in golden light for the second round of the 2025 Boyndie Drome Open Challenge.

A sun-drenched weekend set the perfect stage for Round 3 of the Boyndie Drome Open Challenge, where fierce competition met fantastic atmosphere at the North-east of Scotland’s home of karting. With rental karts lighting up the track late Saturday afternoon and all other classes battling it out on Sunday, fans were treated to action-packed grids across the board.

Rental Karts (Light)

Ross Honeyman broke away early with Darren Scott glued to his bumper, but Honeyman held his nerve for a flawless win and secured the Challenge Trophy with 148 points. Greg Keith moved into third early and stayed there, while a thrilling scrap between Aiden Watson and Edward Hughes ended with Hughes edging ahead.

Rental Karts (Heavy)

Michael Rose led initially, but Mark Geraghty and Josh Orr charged through on lap two, with Geraghty going on to claim the win. Rose rounded out the podium in third after a spirited battle behind.

Pole-sitter Alex Hawcutt dominated the heats and held off a charging Keiran Smart to win the final by just half a second. Gordon Hawton completed the podium, after swapping places multiple times with Scott Mutch.

Granville Grubb Memorial Trophy – KZ2 Special

The return of this 20-lap classic did not disappoint. Grid positions drawn from a hat saw Brendan Walker on pole, but it was Keiran Smart who powered to the front by lap 2 and opened up a commanding lead. Alex Hawcutt and Chris Walker charged through the pack in an epic chase, with Walker briefly closing the gap before back-markers slowed his progress. Smart took a deserved win, with Hawcutt second and Walker third.
